The Powys Parenting Forum represents the experiences and voices of parents, and their children, across the county.

When we refer to ‘parents’ we mean this as an inclusive term encompassing anyone undertaking a parenting role: parents (both dads and mums), grandparents, foster parents, adoptive parents, special guardianships, kindship carers or anyone with parental responsibility.

No special qualifications are needed to be a Parent Community Representative, all we ask is that you can spare a few hours, four times a year to attend the parenting forum meetings. Meetings are held online every quarter, with an in-person meeting at the end of the year, and you will receive ongoing support, guidance and training during your time on the forum.

What do you get out of it?

  • Training on participation and safeguarding.
  • Information and resources that you can read in an easy way and share with other parents.
  • Opportunities to represent your community at Wales wide level in meetings or events.
  • A link to an organisation or named person in your local area who can provide timely support.
  • Support and guidance.
  • Gain skills in communication and organisation, which can be useful in applying for work.
