Powys Library Service is researching how they could support residents to access digital technology and services, through the development of community hubs providing support and space to work remotely.

The engagement project involves two surveys:

  1. Access to Services and Digital Exclusion Survey - will assess how easy or difficult it is for residents to access key services and information in Powys and how that might be improved by creating digital hubs in libraries where people can get support.
  2. Digital Hub Workspaces Survey - will gauge the interest in the development of workspaces within libraries aimed at people who might currently be working from home or those considering starting a small business.

Nina Davies, Head of Housing and Community Development, said: “Thanks to support from the UK Community Renewal Fund, we are in a position to carry out research in order to find out more about how residents living in Powys currently access services, such as advice and support or financial services, whether digital channels may help and what barriers people might face in accessing services online.

“We are also looking into the potential to create co-working spaces using existing local facilities where possible, and this project will help us to find out the demand for such workspaces across Powys.”

Paper copies of the survey are also available via the library service. To request a paper copy please call 01874 612394 or visit your local library.

The closing date for responses is Thursday 30th June 2022.
