We are seeking views from a wide range of residents and stakeholders, including current and former tenants of the Powys County Council Farm Estate, members of the local farming community and agricultural organisations. This consultation aims to gather feedback on the future direction of the Council’s Farm Estate including the new draft Farm Estate – Supporting Sustainable Rural Futures policy.
We want to understand if the farm estate, as a non-statutory service, is a priority for our residents, and if it is then how we can improve the resource to meet their future needs with the right policy. We also wish to find out what is working well, what could be improved, and how the estate can best support new entrants into farming, sustainable land use, and the wider rural economy.
The feedback we receive will help shape the future for the Farm Estate. Many aspects of farming and life have changed over time, but our Farm Estate has not seen the investment to transform. This consultation gives you the opportunity to have your say on how we will take forward these assets for the future and a more Sustainable Powys.
