As we move forward with plans to transform health and care in the north of the county through the proposed multi-agency Health and Wellbeing Campus in Newtown, a partnership between Powys County Council, Powys Teaching Health Board, and supported by PAVO, we are working closely with third sector and partner organisations to better understand the anticipated demand for our multi-use rooms once the campus opens.
We are mindful of the many excellent groups and venues already active in the area and aim not to duplicate existing efforts, but to complement them, working collaboratively to enhance the community and wellbeing of Newtown area and its residents.
This survey aims to gauge interest from organisations operating in north Powys. Some details about room usage, such as potential costs, are still being finalised and will be shared as we continue to shape our operating model.
This information will support our required Strategic and Business Outline Cases by providing evidence of need to the Welsh Government, helping to justify the release of £30 million in capital investment for Newtown.
The hub will offer a wide range of opportunities, including modern library services, training facilities for the future health and care workforce, community dental, pharmacy and GP services, clinical space for various primary care teams, housing advice and support, and an integrated family centre, among many other services.
It will also feature dedicated space for wellbeing activities and flexible, multi-purpose bookable rooms suitable for everything from yoga and dance to hobby groups and community gatherings.
