Background:
Rachel Reeves, Chancellor of the Exchequer, announced at the Autumn Budget that the rate of employers’ NI will rise by 1.2 percentage points, from 13.8% to 15%, from April 2025. Simultaneously, the secondary threshold – the level at which employers start paying NI on each employee’s salary – will be reduced from £9,100 a year to £5,000.
Earlier this month, WCVA, on behalf of the Third Sector Partnership Council (TSPC) and Third Sector Support Wales (TSSW), sent a letter to Mark Drakeford, the Welsh Government Finance and Welsh Language Cabinet Secretary, urging him to carefully consider the impact of the rise on the Third Sector as Welsh Government produces its draft budget.
