Seeking your view on the draft Powys Teaching Health Board Pharmaceutical Needs Assessment by 30 July 2026

Powys Teaching Health Board is under a statutory obligation to draft, consult upon and publish a Pharmaceutical Needs Assessment by 1 October 2026 in accordance with the National Health Service (Pharmaceutical Services) (Wales) Regulations 2020.


What is a Pharmaceutical Needs Assessment?

The Pharmaceutical Needs Assessment is designed to assess the current provision of pharmaceutical services (i.e. those services that the health board commissions from pharmacies, dispensing appliance contractors and dispensing doctors), have regard to any specified future circumstance where the current position may materially change and identify any current and future gaps in pharmaceutical services.

The Pharmaceutical Needs Assessment assists the health board in determining applications by pharmacies, dispensing appliance contractors and dispensing doctors for new, additional or relocated premises, changes to opening hours or the provision of more pharmaceutical services.

As part of this process, the health board is conducting a consultation process on a draft Powys Teaching Health Board Pharmaceutical Needs Assessment and seeks your views.


How can I get involved?

A period of consultation on the draft Powys Teaching Health Board Pharmaceutical Needs Assessment is taking place from 1 June 2026 to 30 July 2026.

You are invited to:

  • Read the draft Powys Teaching Health Board Pharmaceutical Needs Assessment and the Executive Summary
  • Share your feedback by 30 July 2026
